Office of the President -- Indiana University
One of my most valuable experiences was working for the Indiana University President's Office in 2018-9. In that role, I worked on strategic initiatives to raise the profile of Indiana University, focusing especially on national and international honors and awards. I managed projects and databases. I also wrote and edited many biographies of Indiana University professors and alumni and gained crucial first-hand experience seeing how a major research university is governed.
Commitment to Equity & Inclusion
Throughout my career, I have prioritized equity, diversity, inclusiveness, and respect for all inside and outside of the classroom. I have served on multiple diversity committees and worked with and advocated for autistic students and trans students. I also developed and taught the upper division Race, Class, and Gender seminar for the Butler University Philosophy Department (cross-listed with Gender, Women, and Sexuality Studies.) Editing and Thesis Direction I have worked as an editor, indexer, and editorial consultant in the private sector and served as referee for Philosophy in the Contemporary World and the Indiana Philosophical Association (2021-present.) I also served as judge for the IPA's Undergraduate Prize (2021.) I enjoy mentoring students in their writing projects and have directed multiple theses and led directed readings. |
Online Teaching & Curriculum Development
In addition to developing and teaching original courses for IUPUI and Butler University, I have taught online courses at Chamberlain University, where I conducted the course shell review of the Principles of Ethics course for its migration to the online platform. As a student, I also taught a supplemental instruction course on local cable television for Ball State University. In 2018, I began an Ed.D. in Higher Education & Student Affairs with an emphasis on online course and curriculum design and assessment. From 2018-21, I also studied Online Course Design and Teaching Best Practices at Butler University and taught several courses for Butler in online and hybrid environments as well as in the classroom. Grants, Budgets, Management Experience I have applied for and received multiple grants as a student and as a faculty member. From 1997-8, I served as Admissions Coordinator for the Eiteljorg Museum, where I kept daily accounts of visitors and transactions, completed monthly budget reports, sold museum memberships, contributed to development initiatives, and supervised a rotating staff of volunteers. I also gained valuable project management and database management experience in my role at Indiana University. |
